Land O’Lakes cheese wins 5 awards at global championship

These prestigious awards showcase the dedication of our member-farmers and cheese-making legacy.

Land O’Lakes won five awards at the 35th World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, Wisconsin, including Best of Class in the Aged Cheddar category.
The contest saw more than 3,300 entries across the 142 judged classes. Land O’Lakes earned two Best of Class for our Aged Cheddar and Vermont Creamery Madagascar Vanilla Crème Fraîche, as well as three runner-up awards for our Italian Blend Process Cheese, Vermont Creamery Unsalted Cultured Butter and Vermont Creamery/Wegmans Food Markets 1916 Aged Goat Cheese.

"From our member farms to our facilities where the product is made, to home kitchens where it’s enjoyed, there's a lot of pride that goes into Land O'Lakes' dairy case cheese,” Dairy Foods President Heather Anfang says. “These awards are a ringing endorsement of the quality of our products and a testament to the passion and dedication of our member-farmers and the Kiel team."
Tim Stearns, master cheesemaker at the dairy facility in Kiel, Wisconsin, received the awards on behalf of Land O'Lakes and says they serve as great recognition for the cheese-making legacy at Kiel.
“Kiel has an amazing tradition of making the best aged cheddar in the world, and it’s great to see that continue,” Tim says. “It’s incredible to go to work every day with this team and make award-winning products that do right by our member-farmers and our customers.”
