For high school seniors preparing to enter college, scholarships are incredibly important. And at Land O’Lakes, supporting students in their pursuit of higher education is important to us and our overall purpose of feeding human progress.
That’s why the Land O’Lakes Foundation is now offering three scholarships for children or grandchildren of our direct (Class B and D) member-owners. The $5,000 scholarships are available to current high-school seniors who are pursuing a 2- or 4-year degree at an accredited institution in the fall of 2017.
The program launched this spring, and applications are now available on the Member website under Community Involvement. Applications must be postmarked by June 15 to be considered.
Good for our members and beyond
“We’re happy to add this benefit for our members,” says Land O’Lakes Foundation Executive Director Lydia Botham. “We know that scholarships have a tremendous impact on college students, and we’re proud to help them pursue higher education.”
This is not the first scholarship of its kind for the Land O’Lakes Foundation, but it is the first scholarship open nationwide exclusively for children and grandchildren of direct members. The Land O’Lakes Foundation also supports two specific scholarships for students pursuing agriculture careers, the Winfield Careers in Agriculture and the John Brandt Memorial Scholarship, in addition to supporting scholarships at Iowa State University, University of Minnesota and Purdue University.
“This new scholarship supports our strategic giving pillar of education and aligns with other scholarships we offer.,” says Lydia.
The application form includes a space for the direct member to sign, a section for the scholarship applicant and three short-answer questions. In addition to the application form, a high school transcript and one letter of recommendation are required.
The completed application and accompanying documents can be sent to the Land O’Lakes Foundation (address can be found on application form) or to email@example.com.
