Jean Jackson, the U.S Ambassador to Malawi, spoke at the event stating that, "No one agency or government can achieve this alone. Tonight, we commemorate 50 years of development partnership between the Government and people of Malawi and the Government and people of the United States and all the implementing partners here, who have contributed to the success of USAID."

Ambassador Jackson also congratulated the implementing partners in the agriculture sector for their roles in the areas of crop diversification, marketing, improved nutrition, food security, improved land management and forest protection, as well as an innovative program focused on mobile banking, for the transformative impact they have had on many in Malawi.
