Land O’Lakes Retiree Ron Ostby was presented with the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Award yesterday in Minneapolis at their 3rd annual awards ceremony. He was honored in the Life Achievement category.

Ostby served as CFO for Land O’Lakes from 1986 to 1999. Throughout his time at Land O’Lakes, sales increased from $1.9 billion in 1986 to $5.6 billion in 1999.

“Ron’s biggest contributions to the organization were his drive for a focus on people development, measuring business performance through return on invested capital and an emphasis on fewer and bigger businesses,” said Dan Knutson, Land O’Lakes current CFO. “He is well-deserving of this award, and we are grateful for his humble leadership.”

Prior to joining Land O’Lakes, Ostby was CFO at AGP for four years. He also worked for The Pillsbury Company for 20 years.

The CFO of the Year awards were presented in seven categories at a luncheon held at the Hyatt in Minneapolis yesterday. All the winners are profiled in today’s issue of the Business Journal.
