Answer Plot® Community Gardens
The Land O’Lakes Foundation has identified seventeen regions across the country to host an Answer Plot® Community Garden in 2012. This program, in partnerships with local co-ops, FFA chapters and Land O'Lakes own WinField® agronomists, was created as part of an ongoing effort to help alleviate hunger in rural communities. The goal of the program is to engage multiple groups in various communities to grow, harvest and donate 100,000 servings of fresh produce to local food shelves.
Answer Plot® Match for Hunger Relief is a program that matches dollar-for-dollar the cash donations of Answer Plot® landowners and local cooperative members for local hunger projects. Through this program, Land O’Lakes Foundation leverages local funding efforts, furthers its mission to help rural communities prosper and prepare for tomorrow by strengthening organizations dedicated to human service.
Throughout the summer, the teams of FFA students, with support from local co-ops and Land O’Lakes, will plant and harvest produce in a section of their nearby Answer Plot® and donate it to a food pantry in their community to help local families in need. To better prepare these teams for success, Land O’Lakes mailed a “toolkit” to the FFA partner in each community. These kits include a variety of helpful items to get them started in their Community Garden that included planting guides, seeds, and a camera to take pictures of their success throughout the summer.
“We’re proud to build on the success of our Answer Plot® program and partner with local FFA chapters and co-ops by planting healthy produce to feed hungry families in local communities,” said Kevin Eye, director for Answer Plot® & Agronomy-Seed Services. “This program also provides us with a great opportunity to reach out and share our agronomy expertise with students who may become our future farmers.”

Answer Plot® Knowledge Events
Answer Plots® sites are literally “growing plots” dedicated to demonstrating agricultural technologies. By bringing growers and our highly trained field experts together at these locations, growers see first-hand how making the right agricultural choices can benefit production, profitability potential and environmental stewardship.
"Growers that attend these events throughout the growing season comment on how valuable and totally satisfied they are with this experience,” said Kevin Eye, director for Answer Plot® & Agronomy-Seed Services. “They can apply relevant information learned which enables them to make better decisions on each of their fields. What makes the Answer Plot® experience so unique is that the training is hands-on, localized, usually 50 miles or less from their farm and growers can learn first-hand all the latest research in the industry available today."
Answer Plot® Knowledge Events cover a wide range of topics, including choosing the right seed, plant nutrition, as well as the efficient use of crop protection products. To date, about 200 Answer Plot® locations have been established across the United States, as well as in Canada and Kenya – and the popularity of this program continues to grow.
