Employee volunteerism is encouraged and supported at Land O’Lakes, Inc. Through community initiatives our company, employees and retirees can take action to demonstrate what it means to be a good corporate citizen.
We believe that improving the health of the community helps build a better business climate and increases the well-being of employees, retirees and customers. Our community initiatives help improve employee morale and foster a sense of pride by allowing employees to give, serve and lead us to a better tomorrow.
Land O'Lakes volunteer programs include:
Our employees make it a priority to devote their own time and resources to improving the lives of others. In fact, Land O’Lakes employees and the company joined together to give more than $1 million nationally to the United Way in 2008, with 80 percent of the company’s Twin Cities-based employees making contributions. Our President and CEO, Chris Policinski, served as Chairman of the 2008 Greater Twin Cities United Way campaign and will continue to serve on the board of that organization.
Land O’Lakes encourages and incents volunteerism. Through opportunities provided by the Foundation, employees and retirees logged a collective 22,000 volunteer hours this past year donating their time at local food shelves and community centers across the U.S. The company’s Big Splash! program recognizes volunteerism by awarding monetary grants to organizations supported by employee service projects. Some of the initiatives included managing household chores for seniors, constructing a new elementary school playground and volunteering in a furniture warehouse that provides for families in need.
